As Black Russian Terriers are large dogs, the temptation of owners to give chocolate to their dogs is irresistible. Children especially may be overcome by the festivity and may give dogs chocolates when their parents are not in sight..

 

With the pending Halloween, Christmas and New Years, chocolates are everywhere

Chocolates SHOULD NOT be given to dogs, bottom line.

Chocolates contain a compound called theobromine and theophylline.

Theobromine belongs to the same family as caffeine.

Black Russian Terriers as well as other animals and human beings are highly susceptible to Carbon Monoxide poisoning when automobiles, home furnaces, wood stoves, blast furnaces and coke ovens are used.

What is Carbon Monoxide (CO)?

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration defines Carbon Monoxide (CO) as a poisonous, colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas. Although it has no detectable odor, CO is often mixed with other gases that do have an odor. So, you can inhale carbon monoxide right along with gases that you can smell and not even know that CO is present.

As a Black Russian Terrier (BRT) breeder and handler I have received numerous acclamations regarding the beauty of the Black Russian Terrier

Why a Black Russian Terrier?

Well, let me share my own personal experience. Being from Novokuznetsk,  Siberia  Russia, I always admired BRTs for their enormous size and beauty. I fell instantly in love with these dogs. I could not afford to have a BRT back in Russia because of living conditions. 

However I always dreamt of owning one.
